Fine spirits were the order of evening as supporters of Leaders in Furthering Education - (LIFE) gathered for the 10th annual "Exclusive International Wine Dinner and Auction," Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach. The event was generously underwritten by Mary and Robert Montgomery. Chairwomen Lois Pope and Suzi Goldsmith worked tirelessly to ensure that the evening was a great success. Guests at the elegant dinner and auction had the opportunity to enjoy a sampling of fine champagnes and wines donated by Southern Wine & Spirits which were poured throughout the cocktail hour and dinner. A silent auction held before dinner included wine, spirits, and others items for the dining and entertaining connoisseur. The "Tiffany Wall of Life" offered a chance to purchase a beautiful gift donated by the venerable retailer. Corporate benefactors for the evening included Southern Wine & Spirits, Citi Private Bank and Tiffany & Co. Eric Hemer, master sommelier of Southern Wine & Spirits of America shared with those attending the evening all wines being served with each course. Following the main course he auctioned an assortment of fine and rare wines in an exciting live auction, including a vertical of "Screaming Eagle." Guests enjoyed competing to add to their wine collections while supporting the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial. The event raised more than $150,000 in support of the Memorial.

While dessert was served a real treat was dished up as veteran entertainers Marty Allen and Karon Kate Blackwell took to the stage presenting some spirited entertainment of the comedic and musical variety. One of the most versatile performers in show business, Marty Allen has worked solo as a comedy headliner in nightclubs and as a dramatic actor in TV roles. His infamous "Hello Dere" greeting is known and imitated by fans throughout the world. The audience at LIFE's "Exclusive International Wine Dinner and Auction" was not only captivated by this dynamic duo, but provided with the perfect night cap to a spirited evening in support of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial.

Among those guests on hand to enjoy the evening were Greg Harris, Moira and Jon Fiore, Helene and Stanley Karp, Nancy and Herb Richman, Bonnie and Don Soik, Priscilla and Dennis Rocca, Cindy and Ted Mandes, Alton and Sharon O'Neil, Larry and Vesna Leamer, Shirley and Robert Wyner, Lawrence Greenberg and Anne and Dr. Robert Ross.
