Palm Beach, FL -- LIFE (Leaders in Furthering Education) is pleased to announce that Maude Cook has joined its board of directors.

"Maude will make a wonderful addition to our board" said Lois Pope, founder and president of LIFE. "Her enthusiasm and dedication will be great assets."

Originally from New York, Maude has been a resident of Palm Beach for ten years, dividing her time between her two homes. She is retired from a successful career in women's fashion and now spends her time pursuing her many interests including attending lectures at the Four Arts, the opera, ballroom dancing and gemology.

In addition to her support of LIFE, Maude recently joined the board of the International Society of Palm Beach.

Lois Pope, founder and president of the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc. and LIFE (Leaders In Furthering Education), just completed raising funds for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, the only memorial in our nation's capitol dedicated to paying tribute to the three million permanently disabled veterans living today and to all deceased disabled veterans throughout our nation's history. LIFE has now announced that it will embark on a groundbreaking new program to protect the voiceless and the vulnerable in our society -abused and neglected children and animals - with a new partnership with American Humane Association. AHA's mission is to create a more humane and compassionate world by ending abuse and neglect of children and animals. The 19th Annual "Lady in Red" Gala, which will take place on December 1, 2012, at the Mar-a-Lago Palm Beach, will benefit AHA and local programs here in Palm Beach County.
