LIFE's 14th Annual Golf Tournament at Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club raises funds to send underprivileged children to summer camp

Delray Beach, FL -- LIFE's 14th Annual Golf Tournament, a fun-filled day of golf and goodwill, was held on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club, Lake Worth. Proceeds from the tournament support LIFE's Summer Camp Program for underprivileged and special needs children living in Palm Beach County. Susan Chambers, Suzi Goldsmith and Matt Kutcher served as chairmen.
During the tournament awards brunch, Lois Pope presented M. Mac Schwebel with a with a bronze eagle award - engraved with "Mac The Nice Schwebel" 2008 in thanks for his generous support of the tournament over the past 14 years. For the entire history of the tournament he has generously donated his magnificent Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club, including carts and the delicious brunch, allowing all of the proceeds to go directly to LIFE's Summer Camp Program. The Tournament has raised more than $1 million for underprivileged children over the course of its history. "These children need our help, support and encouragement in their lives. I am so pleased to be able to offer Sherbrooke for the Tournament allowing the proceeds to be used entirely to provide a terrific summer camp experience for them," said Mr. Schwebel.
First place went to Geoff Anderson, Robert Chiste, Kyle Perettine, and Christian Porzenheim. Second place was captured by Jim Case, Matt Kutcher, Wayne Rinehart and Rich Wilson. Third place was awarded to Doreen Clancy, Jeff Sheehan, Ian Transteau and Barry Transleau. Closest to the pin winner for the women was Julia Hitchens and Jeff Salzman was closest to the pin winner for the men.

Citi Private Bank was co-sponsor of the Tournament and player gift bags. "We all enjoyed an excellent day of golf in support of a very worthwhile cause," said Matt Kutcher, Director of the Citi Private Bank, Palm Beach and Tournament co-chairman. "Knowing that we are helping some deserving kids go to summer camp while enjoy a day on the links, that just makes it even better."
LIFE's Summer Camp Program benefits underprivileged and special needs children throughout Palm Beach County who live in households which fall below the national poverty level...this includes homeless and special needs children. In the past 13 years the LIFE's Golf Tournament, in combination with other fundraising events has raised enough funds to send more than 13, 750 children to camp.
